A New era for the
Majvik Castle Hotel
Rune & Berg Design is part of the team behind the extensive renovation of the historic Art Nouveau castle in Majvik, Kirkkonummi. Built at the turn of the century, this protected stone castle will be reborn as a high-end boutique hotel and event venue.

Hotel design where
architecture and history meet
We are honoured to design the hotel rooms as well as the restaurant and banquet hall for such an exceptional venue. When the design is rooted in a strong architectural spirit and historical narrative, it serves as an inspiring foundation for creating something new.
The Af Forselles family built the Art Nouveau villa in the early 20th century, and Sigrid af Forselles was one of the first Finnish female sculptors, whose works were featured in the Ateneum’s “Crossing Borders” exhibition in 2025.
The goal is to preserve the castle’s traditions and bring them to new heights. Majvik’s unique architecture features the rich detailing and ornamentation typical of the era, creating a strong identity for the place and making it an unforgettable experience.
The hotel rooms and suites are named after characters from Majvik’s history, such as the Anne-Marie Lawn Tennis Suite, the Sigrid Salon, and the Af Forselles Suite. The rooms will include sculptures by the family’s artist and restored original furnishings. Each room has its own story, which enriches the hotel experience.
For decades, this place has carried deep meaning for many — hosting weddings and celebrations, and offering a peaceful escape from everyday life. In the future, the use of the premises may also expand to include various events and gatherings.
We want to create a hotel experience where guests can truly feel the place’s history. The idea is that being in such a valuable historical setting is good for people: it reminds us that we are part of a longer chain of time.

Culturally and historically
significant renovation
The Majvik development is a long-term redevelopment of a site of significant cultural and historical significance. We are proud to be part of a project that preserves the building’s past while creating a framework for a new life. The renovation will improve, among other things, the castle hotel’s accessibility, user-friendliness, and building technology.
The project is carried out in close collaboration with museum authorities, with careful respect for the original architecture. Construction management is led by Catedral Group, while architectural design is entrusted to Davidsson Tarkela Siren Architects.
The renewed Majvik Art Nouveau castle will open to guests in spring 2027. We believe that the venue will continue to offer experiences that people will want to return to.
